Gathering by Lauren Freestone
600x600mm framed in Tasmanian Oak
This piece is inspired by childhood memories gathering treasures along the shore. Collecting newly flowered and fallen banksia cones from the sand, searching for shells, digging for pippis, scouring rockpools & swimming in the ocean. The simple things I now watch my own children do. The centre represents the sun and the four smaller circles around it each represent the generations of my family that lived by the coast. The design in the background represents the hills and mountains surrounding the coastline where I grew up.
